The lessons to be learned
the joy to be rediscovered
The experienced player passing along what they wish they knew when they were in that younger players cleats
The younger player rekindling the joy in the older player when baseball has become more work than play
Like the stitches that bind the ball together we can bind players together across generations

108 Stories PROJECT
Watching my son grow from playing tee ball to high school varsity, and myself growing the those 13 years through the roles of manager, coach, scorekeeper, umpire, and parent, my son and I have gained perspective we wish we had at the start. This project is about helping others get those valuable insights earlier.
Baseball players can relate to each other in a unique way Stepping into the box can feel like the scariest place in the world. As a Little League umpire I see it up close in ways no parent or coach does. Only another player can relate. Only another player can speak to how they got through it. That is just one instance. Beyond that, I imagine hearing other players stories, in their own words, can: Give a 12 year old insight on what truly matters as they play their magical last year of Little League Let a high school senior know they're not alone during that bittersweet final season Rekindle joy for a college or pro player for whom baseball is now a job Remind a retired player about this wonderful game - and maybe bring them back Connect people in ways I can't imagine The 108 Baseball Stories project is to stitch those stories and people together |
what's next?
Share the collected stories on this website for others to read and hopefully publish a collection of stories as a book to those that shared their stories, at no cost to them, if we can get to at least 108 stories
I'd also like to the create cohorts for direct player interaction for those interested
Beyond that, we'll see where the game takes us
